ما يشتهيه المثقف فوق كل شيء أن يُؤخذ على محمل الجدّ، وأن يُعامَل بوصفه قوةً حاسمةً في صنع التاريخ. إنه أكثر ارتياحاً في مجتمعٍ يزن كلَّ كلمةٍ يقولها ويراقب مواقفه عن كثب، منه في مجتمعٍ لا يهمّه ما يقول أو يفعل. إنه يفضّل الاضطهاد على التجاهل.
