لا تكمن الحرّية في استقلالٍ متخيَّلٍ عن قوانين الطبيعة، بل في معرفة هذه القوانين، وفي الإمكان الذي تتيحه هذه المعرفة لتسخيرها بصورةٍ منهجيّةٍ لبلوغ غاياتٍ محدّدة.
