الحرية لا تبعد دائمًا إلا جيلًا واحدًا عن الانقراض. ولا نورّثها لأبنائنا بالدم والوراثة؛ بل علينا أن نكافح من أجلها ونحميها ثم نسلّمها إليهم، ليفعلوا مثلنا، وإلا وجدنا أنفسنا في سنوات غروبنا نحكي لأبنائنا وأحفادهم عن زمنٍ مضى في أمريكا، حين كان الرجال والنساء أحرارًا.
