لقد حكمتُ الآن أكثر من خمسين عامًا منتصرًا ومُنعَمًا عليه بالسلام، محبوبًا من رعيتي، مَهيبًا لدى أعدائي، ومحترَمًا لدى حلفائي. الثروة والجاه، والسلطة والمتعة، تنتظر دعوتي، ولا يبدو أن نعمةً من نعم الدنيا تنقص سعادتي. ومع ذلك، فقد عددتُ بعناية أيامَ السعادة الخالصة الحقّة التي نالها نصيبي، فإذا هي أربعةَ عشر يومًا. أيها الإنسان، لا تضع ثقتك في هذه الدنيا!
