ذات يوم، وبينما كان لويد جورج يلقي خطابًا سياسيًا أمام حشد كبير، صاح أحد المشاكسين: «انتظر لحظة يا سيد جورج! أليس صحيحًا أن جدّك كان يبيع الأواني المعدنية هنا، يجرّ عربته الخشبية حمارٌ؟» فأجابه لويد جورج: «سأستطرد لحظة لأشكر السيد على لفت انتباهي إلى ذلك. صحيح أن جدّي العزيز كان يبيع الأواني المعدنية بعربة قديمة وحمار. بل إنني، بعد انتهاء هذا الاجتماع، سأرافق صديقي هذا لأريه تلك العربة القديمة، غير أنني لم أعرف إلى أين انتهى مصير الحمار حتى هذه اللحظة!
