ثمّة نوعٌ من الاستبداد يمكن أن ينشأ من شللٍ زاحفٍ في الفكر، ومن الاستعداد لقبول إجراءات وصائيّة تفرضها الحكومة. ومع هذه الإجراءات يأتي التخلّي عن مسؤولياتنا، ومن ثَمّ التخلّي عن تفكيرنا في حياتنا وحقّنا في ممارسة التصويت. النظام الحرّ يمنح كلّ مواطنٍ الحقّ في أن يفعل شيئًا لنفسه. ولأنّ هذا الحقّ له، تبقى الفرصة دائمًا قائمة.
