وهكذا تشبه هذه الأرضُ حيوانًا عظيمًا، أو بالأحرى نباتًا غيرَ حيّ، تستنشق نفَسًا أثيريًا لتجدد نفسها يوميًا وتخمّرها الحيوي، ثم تزفر أبخرةً كثيفة. ووفقًا لحال جميع الكائنات الحية، يجب أن تكون لها مدةُ بدءٍ وشبابٍ وشيخوخةٍ وفناء.
