أرى أنه يمكننا أن نُنهي الانقسامات داخل الولايات المتحدة. وما أراه واضحًا تمامًا أننا قادرون على العمل معًا في نهاية المطاف. وأن ما جرى في الولايات المتحدة خلال السنوات الثلاث الماضية من انقسامات وعنف وخيبة أمل في مجتمعنا، من انقسامات بين السود والبيض، وبين الفقراء والموسرين، وبين الأجيال، أو بسبب حرب فيتنام، يمكن أن نتجاوزه بالعمل معًا. نحن أمّةٌ عظيمة، وأمّةٌ لا تعرف الأنانية، وأمّةٌ رحيمة. وأنا أعتزم أن أجعل ذلك أساسَ حملتي.
