من وظيفة العلم أن يكشف عن وجود نظامٍ عامّ يسود الطبيعة، وأن يبحث عن الأسباب التي تحكم هذا النظام. وهذا ينطبق بالقدر نفسه على علاقات الإنسان الاجتماعية والسياسية، وعلى الكون كلّه بوصفه كلًّا واحدًا.
