ولكن حين حققنا النصر، وبزغ العالم الجديد، عاد الشيوخ إلى الظهور، فأخذوا نصرنا ليعيدوا تشكيله على صورة العالم القديم الذي عرفوه. كان بوسع الشباب أن يكسب، لكنه لم يتعلّم كيف يحافظ على ما كسب، فكان أضعف من الشيخوخة إلى حدّ يثير الشفقة. تلعثمنا قائلين إننا عملنا من أجل سماءٍ جديدة وأرضٍ جديدة، فشكروا لنا ذلك بلطف، ثم عقدوا صلحهم.
