على كل حال، لم تعد الحربة بالأهمية التي كانت عليها. بات الشائع اليوم أن يُقدَم على الهجوم بالقنابل اليدوية وبالمجرفة الصغيرة للحفر. فالمعول المُحدّد أخفّ وأكثر تعدّد استعمال؛ إذ لا يقتصر الأمر على ضرب الخصم تحت الذقن، بل وهذا هو الأهم، يمكنك أن تضربه بقوة أكبر بكثير. وهذا صحيح خاصة إذا أنزلته قطريًا بين العنق والكتف، فعندها يمكن أن ينشقّ الجسد حتى الصدر. أما الحربة إذا غُرست، فقد تعلق، وعليك أن تركل الرجل الآخر ركلة قوية في بطنه كي تنتزعها.
