ومن مصادر اليقين بوجود الله، المتصلة بالعقل لا بالعواطف، ما يبدو لي أعظم وزناً بكثير: ذلك أنّ تصوّر هذا الكون الهائل البديع، بما فيه الإنسان بقدرته على النظر بعيداً إلى الماضي وإلى المستقبل، بوصفه نتاجَ الصدفة العمياء أو الضرورة، أمرٌ بالغ الصعوبة، بل مستحيل. وحين أتأمّل ذلك أجد نفسي مضطراً إلى الإقرار بعلّةٍ أولى ذات عقلٍ يشبه عقل الإنسان إلى حدٍّ ما، وأستحقّ أن أُسمّى موحّداً.
