منذ أكثر من عقد، ألغى قرارٌ صادرٌ عن المحكمة العليا حرفيًّا من سجلّات خمسين ولايةً القوانينَ التي تحمي حقوق الأجنّة. والإجهاض عند الطلب يُزهق اليوم أرواح ما يصل إلى مليون ونصف مليون جنينٍ في العام. وستمرّ يومًا ما في الكونغرس تشريعاتُ حماية الحياة البشرية التي تضع حدًّا لهذه المأساة، ويجب ألّا نهدأ أنا وأنتم حتى يحدث ذلك. ما لم يثبت أنّ الجنين ليس كائنًا حيًّا، فإنّ حقّه في الحياة والحرية والسعي إلى السعادة يجب أن يُصان.
