ما تعلّمناه من الماضي أنك لا تستطيع صنع السلام مع شعوب بالتدخل وإطلاق الحروب ومحاولة تغيير الأنظمة دون حلٍّ سياسي. لذلك يتمثل دوري أولاً في تجنّب أي حرب، والسعي إلى تأطير الحوار لإرساء سلام شامل وعملية سلام متكاملة، والحفاظ على منطقة الشرق الأوسط، وخاصةً هذه المنطقة المعقّدة. هذا ما حاولتُ فعله في لبنان، على سبيل المثال، عبر التفاوض مع ولي العهد السعودي محمد بن سلمان، ومع الحكومة اللبنانية.
