هذا التصور الذي يرى المجتمع فيه المرأة متاعًا مملوكًا، هو أكبر ما يجب التغلب عليه. حين بدأتُ الاهتمام بقضية العنف في العلاقات، هاجمني اليمين المسيحي بعنف، لأنني كنت أتدخل فيما هو شأن عائلي خاص. إنه «شأن عائلي». ولهذا أتمنى لو أسقطنا عبارة «العنف الأسري»، فهي تبدو كقطة مستأنسة. وهي أشنع الجرائم جميعًا، أن تُساء معاملتك من شخص ربطتك به علاقة! لأنك عندها تلوم نفسك.
