ميشيل ويلبيك هو بلا شك الروائي الذي يصف الرُّهاب والمخاوف المعاصرة بأدقّ صورة. وينجح، ربما أكثر من غيره، في تصوير الطابع ما بعد الحداثي لمجتمعنا. يتناول أحيانًا إمكانات الهندسة الوراثية، أو الإسلاموية، ويغمر كلّ ذلك بقدر من العبث. أحسستُ بذلك بقوة في رواية "الخضوع". وطريقته في اللعب بالعبث تجعله كاتبًا فريدًا من نوعه، يتميّز عن غيره.
