هذه أوّل أزمة عالمية لا تبدأ في البلدان الفقيرة، بل سبّبتها البلدان الغنية. لذلك ينبغي اغتنام هذه الأزمة: يجب تنظيم النظام المالي. وعلى المصارف المركزية في العالم أن تضبط إلى حدّ ما تمويل البنوك، لأنّها لا تستطيع تجاوز حدّ معيّن من الرافعة المالية. وأعتقد أنه لم يعد هناك سبب لوجود مجموعة الثماني أو أي «مجموعة» أخرى. وأرى أنّ علينا أن نضمن أن تصبح مجموعة العشرين الآن منتدى مهمًّا لمناقشة القضايا الاقتصادية الكبرى في العالم.
