تكمن أهمية كشوفات المراقبة في أنها أظهرت أن حقوقنا تُعاد صياغتها في الخفاء، على يد محاكم سرّية لم يُقصد أن تضطلع بهذا الدور، دون موافقة الجمهور، بل دون علم أغلب ممثّلينا السياسيين.
