الرموز المكتوبة أشدّ اصطناعًا وتواضعًا من المنطوقة، فلا يمكن التقاطها في الاحتكاك العرضي بالآخرين. وفضلًا عن ذلك، يميل الشكل المكتوب إلى انتقاء الأمور وتسجيلها، وهي أمور بعيدة نسبيًا عن الحياة اليومية.
