حاولتُ أن أُلغي حاجة إسرائيل إلى أن تبادر بالهجوم عسكريًا، وذلك بإزالة أكبر تهديد لها ومُهاجِمها، وكان ذلك مصر. وقد كتبتُ عدة كتب في هذا الموضوع. ولا شكّ أن أفضل سبيل لحل مشكلات إسرائيل هو التفاوض على السلام بينها وبين جيرانها المباشرين، وعلى رأسهم الفلسطينيون. وهذا أمر لن يتحقق، في رأيي، من دون المشاركة القوية للرئيس الأمريكي.
