التعلّق العاطفي المفرط بأمة أخرى يولّد صنوفًا من الشرور: وهم المصالح المشتركة حيث لا مصالح مشتركة حقيقية، وتبنّي عداوات الآخرين، والانخراط في خصوماتهم وحروبهم دون مسوّغ. ومن الشرور أيضًا أن هذا التعلّق المفرط يمنح المواطنين الطموحين أو الفاسدين أو المخدوعين القدرةَ على خيانة مصالح بلدهم أو التضحية بها.
