يستطيع المهندس أن ينظر في البيانات، لكنه يحتاج إلى مترجمٍ من قمرة القيادة، أي السائق، كي يفهمها فهماً تامّاً. فمثلاً، لا يستطيع إلا السائق أن يخبرك لماذا رفع قدمه فجأةً عن دوّاسة الوقود عند نقطة بعينها. والبيانات لا تُخبر المهندس بالضرورة إن كان السائق قد أخطأ عند تلك النقطة أم أنّ السيارة هي التي تصرّفت بشكل غير سليم. وغالباً ما تحدّد المعلومات التي يقدّمها السائق اتجاه التطوير.

For example, only the driver can tell you why he abruptly takes his foot off the gas pedal at a certain point.
