لقد صرنا متحضّرين أكثر من اللازم، فلم نعد نُدرك الواضح البيّن. فالحقيقة بسيطة جدًّا: كي تبقى على قيد الحياة كثيرًا ما يتعيّن عليك أن تقاتل، وكي تقاتل عليك أن تتلوّث. الحرب شرّ، وهي غالبًا الشرّ الأهون. ومن يأخذ السيف بالسيف يهلك، ومن لا يأخذه يهلك بأمراض كريهة الرائحة.
