بغير الشجاعة لا يمكنك أن تمارس أيَّ فضيلةٍ أخرى. يجب أن تتحلّى بالشجاعة بأنواعها المختلفة: أولًا، الشجاعةُ الفكرية، لتمييز القيم المختلفة والحسمِ في أيّها الصوابُ الذي تتبعه. ويجب أن تملك الشجاعةَ الأخلاقية للثبات عليه، مهما اعترضك من عقبات، ومهما بلغت المعارضة.
