لا شكّ أنّ لي حساً حقيقياً بالمسرح. وخلال الأيام القليلة الماضية خطر لي أن أكتب كوميديا شخصياتها الرئيسية تكبيرات فوتوغرافية، أولئك الناس الذين نراهم في المداخل: عروسان حديثا الزواج، ورقباء، وفتيات موتى، وحشد مجهول مليء بالشوارب والتجاعيد. ينبغي أن يكون ذلك مروعاً. وإن أحسنتُ التركيز عليه، فسيحمل شجناً بلا عزاء. وسط هؤلاء الناس سأضع جنياً حقيقياً.
