الأنانية، وهي القوّة الدافعة في العالم، والإيثار، وهو أخلاقه، هذان الدافعان المتناقضان، أحدهما واضح جليّ والآخر غامض عسير الفهم، لا يخدماننا إلّا في ذلك التحالف العصيّ على الفهم القائم على عداءٍ لا سبيل إلى التوفيق بين طرفيه.
