تنقسم نفس الإنسان إلى ثلاثة أجزاء: العقل، والتعقّل، والشهوة. وتشترك الحيوانات الأخرى مع الإنسان في الذكاء والشهوة، أمّا التعقّل فينفرد به الإنسان وحده.
