الفتح الإسلامي للهند ربما يكون أدمى قصة في التاريخ. إنها حكاية مُحبِطة، إذ إن عِبرتها الواضحة أن الحضارة نعمةٌ ثمينة، يمكن أن يُطيح بتركيبها الدقيق من النظام والحرية والثقافة والسلام، في أي لحظة، برابرةٌ يغزون من الخارج أو يتكاثرون من الداخل.
