لو أمكننا أن نطّلع على خبايا طباع الإنسان، كما تتجلى في أفعاله الباطنة والظاهرة، حتى نعرف كل حافز، ولو كان أدناه، وكل ظرف خارجي يؤثر فيها، بحيث يمكن التنبؤ بسلوكه المقبل بيقين لا يقل عن يقين وقوع كسوف للشمس أو للقمر، لظلّ لنا أن نقول مع ذلك إن الإنسان حرّ.
