تصوّري للجمهور هو جمهورٌ يحمل كلٌّ من أفراده ما يظنه قلقًا، أو أملًا، أو هاجسًا خاصًا به وحده، يعزله عن البشرية. وفي هذا الجانب على الأقل، فإن وظيفة المسرحية أن تكشفه له نفسه، ليتمكن من أن يلامس الآخرين بفضل هذا الكشف عن تآلفه معهم. ولهذا السبب وحده أرى المسرح عملًا جادًّا، عملًا يجعل الإنسان أكثر إنسانية، أي أقل وحدة.
