ما الحبّ؟ ليس مجرّدَ شفقة، وليس مجرّدَ لطف. ففي الشفقة اثنان: مَن يتألّم، ومَن يشفق عليه. وفي اللطف اثنان: مَن يعطي، ومَن يأخذ. أما في الحبّ فليس هناك إلا واحد؛ يلتقي الاثنان ويتّحدان ويصيران لا يُفترقان. يتلاشى الأنا والأنت. فأن تحبّ يعني أن تفقد ذاتك في المحبوب.
