لكنّ الكنيسة لا يمكن أن تكون، بأيّ معنى سياسي، محافظةً أو ليبرالية أو ثورية. فالمحافظة كثيرًا ما تكون حفظًا للأشياء الخاطئة، والليبرالية ارتخاءً للانضباط، والثورة إنكارًا للأشياء الدائمة.
