أيُّ مهنةٍ أشقُّ من مهنة الكاتب؟ فما إن تنتهي من عمل حتى لا يبدو جيّداً في نظرك إلا أسابيع قليلة؛ وإن بدا جيداً، أيقنتَ أنه آخر ما ستستطيع كتابته، وإن بدا رديئاً، تساءلتَ إن لم يكن كلُّ ما أنجزته تافهاً حقاً. وهي عذابٌ من نوع ما وأنت تكتب، وعذابٌ من نوع آخر حين لا تكتب.
