ثمّة جمالان: جمالُ الروح وجمالُ الجسد. أمّا جمال الروح فيتجلّى في الذكاء والحياء وحُسن السلوك والكرم وحُسن التربية، وهي صفات قد تجتمع كلها في رجل دميم؛ فإذا انصبّت النظرة على هذا الضرب من الجمال لا على جمال الجسد، وُلد الحبّ عادةً فجأةً وبعنف.
