يعاني الفقراء البيض أيضًا الحرمان وذلّ الفقر، وإن لم يكن لونهم سببًا فيه. إنهم مكبّلون بثقل التمييز، وإن لم تَسِم وصمتُه المهينة أجسادهم. إنه يُفسد حياتهم، ويُحبط فرصهم، ويُذوي تعليمهم. وهو من جهة أشدّ ضررًا عليهم، لأنه أربك كثيرين بالتحامل حتى أيّدوا جلاديهم أنفسهم.
