ليس كلُّ الناس يُحسنون الصمت، أو الانصراف في الوقت المناسب. وقد يحدث أن يغفل حتى ذوو الأدب الرفيع عن أن حضورهم يثير في صاحب البيت المُنهَك أو المشغول شعورًا يشبه الكراهية، وأن هذا الشعور يُخفى بتوتر ويُغطّى بالأكاذيب.
