١) الاختلاف (différance) هو اللعب المنظّم للفروق، ولآثار الفروق، والتباعد الذي تترابط به العناصر بعضها ببعض. وهذا التباعد فاعلٌ ومنفعلٌ في آنٍ واحد (حرف الـ a في différance يشير إلى هذا التردد بين الفعل والانفعال، أي إلى ما لا يخضع لأحد طرفي هذه الثنائية ولا يتوزع بينهما)، وهو إنتاج للفواصل التي بدونها لا تدلّ الحدود «التامة» ولا تعمل.
