إن كنتَ طيّبًا، اتّهموك بأنّ لك دوافع أنانيةً خفيّة: كن طيّبًا رغم ذلك. وإن نجحتَ، كسبتَ أصدقاءً زائفين وأعداءً حقيقيين: انجح رغم ذلك. وإن كنتَ صادقًا صريحًا، حاول الناس خداعك: كن صادقًا رغم ذلك. ما تقضي سنوات في بنائه قد يهدمه غيرك في ليلة: ابنِ رغم ذلك. وإن وجدتَ الطمأنينة والسعادة، قد يحسدونك: كن سعيدًا رغم ذلك. الخير الذي تفعله اليوم كثيرًا ما يُنسى غدًا: افعل الخير رغم ذلك. قدّم للعالم أفضل ما لديك، وقد لا يكفيه أبدًا: قدّم أفضل ما لديك رغم ذلك.
