في حياة الثوريين العظام كانت الطبقات المُضطهِدة تطاردهم باستمرار، وتقابل نظرياتهم بأشدّ الحقد وأعنف الكراهية وأبشع حملات الكذب والافتراء. أما بعد وفاتهم، فتُبذل المحاولات لتحويلهم إلى أيقونات مسالمة، وتقديسهم على نحوٍ ما، وتمجيد أسمائهم إلى حدّ معيّن، «تعزيةً» للطبقات المقهورة، وبهدف خداع هذه الطبقات نفسها، وفي الوقت ذاته تجريد النظرية الثورية من جوهرها، وتبليد حدّها الثوري، وابتذالها.
