كلّ ما وقع منذ الأزل في السماء والأرض، وحياةُ الله وكلُّ أفعال الزمان، ليس إلا كفاحَ الروح لتعرف ذاتها، ولتجد ذاتها، ولتكون لذاتها، ولتتّحد أخيرًا بذاتها؛ إنها تغتربُ وتنقسم، لكن لكي تجد ذاتها على هذا النحو وتعود إلى ذاتها... وحين تتجلّى في صورة فردية يُسمّى هذا التحرّرُ «أنا»، وحين تبلغ كمالها الكامل تكون الروحَ الحرّة، وحين تكون شعورًا تكون المحبّة، وحين تكون تمتّعًا تكون النعيمَ.
